During the meeting, the two sides recalled the friendly exchanges over the years, and exchanged views on further promoting non-governmental exchanges between China and ROK and other topics of common concern.

The Jeju Island has been declared by the ROK’s government as an "island of world peace” for its historical background on peace building and its great efforts for promoting the peace cause. The Jeju International Peace Center is one of the most representative venues for peace in Jeju.

Founded in 2006, the Jeju International Peace Center, which is one of the subsidiary bodies of the Jeju International Peace Foundation with a background of ROK’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Unification, has been developed as a symbolic place for peace education, training, and exhibition.

The Center features many exhibits of cultural heritage, records of international heads of state who have visited the Jeju Island, materials on the Nobel Peace Prize winners and many other archives related to world peace.
