Vice President of the Charhar Institute’s Council Deng Kui Meets with Guests from ROK in Shanghai

Entrusted by Han Fangming, Chairman of the Charhar Institute, Deng Kui, Vice President of the Council of the Charhar Institute and President of the Oriental Beauty Valley Fashion Center, met with a delegation from the Republic of Korea (ROK) led by Park Sangchee, Vice President of Gyeonggi University, and Hwang Takyu, President of Samsung Greater China, in Shanghai on December 13th, 2019.

Deng Kui, on behalf of Chairman Han Fangming, first welcomed the visiting of the guests and said that it was of significance for the delegation from ROK to make an investigation visit and carry out friendly exchanges with China’s universities, enterprises and the cultural circles on the eve of the 8th China-Japan-ROK Leaders' Meeting, which is to held next week in Chengdu, capital city of western China’s Sichuan Province.

Deng remarked the ROK friends’ visiting is also important for further implementing the spirit in the recent talk between Moon Hee-sang, Speaker of the National Assembly of ROK, and Chairman of the Charhar Institute Han Fangming. He said more multi-level exchanges and cooperation between China and ROK are needed for achieving the bilateral goal on "Everything going well" between the two countries.

Deng also said that as a place of pioneering in the building up of history of China-ROK friendly relations, Shanghai witnessed the establishment of the Provisionary Government of the Republic of Korea a hundred years ago. Now, there are countless ROK’s friends working and living in Shanghai as well as the Yangtze River Delta, and the cooperation between the two countries in education, culture, economy, trade, tourism and other aspects enjoys distinctive characteristics of “people-to-people exchanges”. He hoped the ROK’s friends’ visiting will be a complete success.

Park Sangchee, Vice President of Gyeonggi University, agreed with Deng’s words. Park expressed his hope on establishing a regular academic exchange and communication mechanism with universities in Shanghai, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Donghua University, etc., for enhancing the mutual exchanges. 

Hwang Tak kyu, President of Samsung Greater China, introduced the relevant business of Samsung Group in China in the meeting. He said that Samsung has made great progress in developing the market in China in the past years. Samsung Greater China's sales volume reached US$ 81.2 billion in 2018, and the total amount of products of Samsung produced in China and reexported reached US$ 32.8 billion. He said, in recent years, Samsung has increased its investment in China tremendously. With China's fastening industrial transformation and upgrading, Samsung Greater China will further expand the investment in 5G and other related fields in the future to promote its business growth.  

Xi Sheng, Deputy General Manager and General Auditor of China Eastern Airlines Group, also introduced the development of business of China Eastern Airlines in ROK during the meeting, saying that the ROK market is one of the largest overseas markets of China Eastern Airlines. With the operation of the Beijing Daxing Airport, China Eastern Airlines is now actively working on opening new routes from Beijing Daxing Airport to ROK. He said the airlline market between China and ROK has begun to recover in the past two years, and in the future, China Eastern Airlines will open more routes from Chinese cities to ROK.
